PERN continuously remains in contact with German Partners that receive crude via the “Druzhba” pipeline as one of the lines of the Western pipeline section pumping crude oil to German Clients suffers leakage. Supplies are continued, taking into account technical possibilities. Polish refineries continue to receive crude oil as nominated. The situation also has no impact on access to fuel for Polish drivers.
All the services responsible for dealing with this type of situation are on the scene. Once the oil that escaped from the pipeline has been collected, the technical services will take immediate action. They will investigate the exact causes of the incident and repair the pipeline. The services responsible for remediating the contaminated area are also on site. PERN estimates that the removal of the contamination will take several more hours. The residents of the surrounding area have not been affected by the situation.
